For 35 years, Theresia Kumar has been a quiet witness to life’s most sacred and tender moments. She has held the hands of the elderly as they took their final breaths. She has advocated for those who could no longer speak for themselves. She has trained countless caregivers and walked alongside families through the heartbreak and beauty of hospice care. Her life has been one of service, and her wisdom runs deep.
Theresia began her career with a degree in Human Services and Chemical Dependency Studies, working in an adolescent drug treatment program. But her heart soon led her elsewhere. She returned to school to study Gerontology and found her true calling: caring for the elderly. From skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities to private in-home care, she has worked in nearly every corner of elder care across California.
Her experience goes beyond the bedside. Theresia has owned and operated her own home care agencies, mentoring caregivers who were just beginning their journeys. Since 2009, she has served as a California State Ombudsman, defending the rights and dignity of elderly residents in long-term care. She has also volunteered with hospice organizations, walking with families through life’s most fragile seasons.
Today, Theresia is an author, motivational speaker, and coach. She pours her decades of experience into empowering caregivers to rediscover their purpose. She understands the exhaustion, the doubt, and the invisible weight you carry. Her words come from a place of genuine compassion and hard-won wisdom. She believes that caregiving is not just a job. It is a sacred calling that deserves recognition, renewal, and respect. She wrote this book to remind you that your work matters, and so do you.
